This vibrant and zesty creamy cilantro jalapeño lime sauce is the perfect addition to tacos, grilled chicken, fish, or even as a flavorful dip for vegetables. Fresh cilantro, garlic, spicy jalapeños, and tangy lime juice blend together to create an irresistible sauce that will elevate any meal.

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 bunch fresh cilantro, roughly chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-2 jalapeños, seeded and roughly chopped (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for smoother texture)

Instructions

  1. Combine sour cream, mayonnaise, cilantro, garlic, jalapeños, lime juice, salt, and pepper in a food processor or blender.
  2. Blend until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as needed. If the sauce is too thick, add olive oil or a tablespoon of water at a time until desired consistency is reached.
  3. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Add more lime juice for tanginess, jalapeño for heat, or salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Transfer the creamy cilantro jalapeño lime sauce to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. This also helps the sauce thicken slightly.

Notes

Store leftover creamy cilantro jalapeño lime sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. For a vegan version, substitute the sour cream and mayonnaise with plant-based alternatives. For a milder flavor, remove the seeds and membranes from the jalapeños. Serve with tacos, quesadillas, grilled chicken, fish, or as a dip for vegetables. You can also add a pinch of cumin or a dash of hot sauce for extra flavor.
